About Our Khoresh Ghormeh

Khoresh means "stew" in Persian, and Ghormeh Sabzi is the Persian herb stew. The herbs (sabzi) give it its deep green colour, and dried lemon gives it a gentle sour note. At Saffron, Khoresh Ghormeh is made with beef, herbs and dried lemon and slow-cooked.

It is served with saffron rice, the way Persian stews are eaten at home in Iran. Our other stews include Khoresh Fesenjan (chicken, walnuts and pomegranate) and Khoresh Gheymeh.
